DAILY HELP FOR DAILY LIFE – APRIL
OooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooO
APRIL 1st
//////////////
READ: Matthew 3 vv 1-6, 11 -17
How shall I follow Him I serve?
How shall I copy Him I love?
Nor from those blessed footsteps swerve,
Which lead me to His seat above?
Privations, sorrows, bitter scorn,
The life of toil, the mean abode.
The faithless kiss, the crown of thorn
Are these the consecrated road?
'Twas thus He suffered, though a Son.
Foreknowing,choosing, feeling all;
Until the perfect work was done,
And drunk the bitter cup of gall.
Lord, should my path through suffering lie
Forbid it I should e're repine;
Still let me turn to Calvary
Nor heed my griefs remembering Yours.
To faint, to grieve, to die for You,
You came, not Yourself to please;
And dear as earthly comforts be,
Shall I not love you more than these?
Yes, I would count them all but loss,
To gain the notice of Your eye;
Flesh shrinks and trembles at the cross,
But You can give the victory.

READ: Matthew 4 vv 1-11
Faint and weary Jesus stood
In the awful wilderness;
Yet it was the spirit good
Brought Him to that sore distress;
For the people whom he loved
Dark temptation he befell;
But His very weakness proved
Mightier than the powers of Hell.
He was tempted that He might
Succour us when sorely tried;
And He triumphed by the light
Which must also be our guide;
He our enemy has met
He will give us victory;
Help us Lord when hard beset
Still to look and learn of You.
Not by bread alone we live
Your good word our life shall be;
Not for all that earth can give
Shall we worship anything but You;
Nor the Word of promise bend
E'er to tempt our God in Heaven;
Never for unholy end
Was the gracious promise given.

READ; Matthew 5 vv 1 – 12
There is a dwelling place above;
There to meet the God of love,
The poor in spirit go ;
There is a Paradise of rest;
For contrite hearts and souls distressed .
It's streams of comfort flow
There is a voice of mercy true ;
To those whose mercy's path pursue,
That voice shall bliss impart;
There is a Sight from man concealed ;
That sight –the face of God revealed,
Shall bless the pure in heart.
There is a name in Heaven bestowed;
That name that hails them sons of God,
The friends of peace shall know;
There is a kingdom in the sky.
Where they shall reign with God on high
Who serve him here below.
Lord be it mine like them to choose
The better part, like them to use
The means Your love has given;
Be holiness my aim on earth,
That death be welcome as a birth
To life and bliss in Heaven.

And did You. Lord, our sorrows take?
And did you, Lord, our burdens bear?
Did you for love of us forsake
Your glorious heights, your heavenly air?
O could our weakness move your might?
Our misery make us sought by You?
Our gloom allure Your glory bright?
Our sins wear down your purity true?
We who so tenderly were sought,
Shall we not joyful seekers be?
And to Your feet divinely brought.
Help weaker souls by You be taught?
Celestial Seeker. Send us forth!
Almighty lover, teach us love!
When shall we yearn to help our earth.

For daily help and nightly care,
sing to the Lord, for He is good,
And praise His name for It is fair.

His truth too prove, His will to do;
Praise you our God, for He is great;
Trust in His name for It is true.
For joys untold that from above
Cheer those who love His sweet employ,

Large petitions with you bring
For His grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much.
Lord, I come to you for rest:

There Your blood bought right maintain.
And without a rival reign.

Remember that Omnipotence

God's help is always sure,
His method seldom guessed;

READ Luke 7 vv 36-50
Weary of Earth, and laden with my sin,
I look at Heaven and long to enter in;
But there no evil thing may find a home,
Ad yet I hear a voice that bids me “Come”
So bad I am how dare I hope to stand
In the pure glory of that holy land?
Before the whiteness of His throne appear?
Yet there are hands stretched out to draw me near.
While I would chose to tread the heavenly way,
Evil is ever with me day by day;
Yet on my eyes the gracious tidings fall,
“Repent. Believe, you shall be loosed from all”.
It is the voice of Jesus that I hear;
His are the hands outstretched to draw me near
And His the blood that can for all atone
And set me faultless there before the Throne.
O great absolver, grant my soul will wear
The lowliest clothes of penitence and prayer,
That in the Father's courts my glorious dress
May me the garment of His righteousness
Yes, You will answer for me, righteous Lord!
Yours all the merit mine the great reward!
Yours the sharp thorns and mine the go;den crown
Mine the life won, and Yours the life laid down.
Nothing can I bring, dear Lord, for all I owe,
Yet let my full heart what it can bestow;
Like ointment sweet,let my devotion prove,
Forgiven greatly, how I greatly love.

Grant us Your light that we may know
The wisdom You alone can give;
That truth may guide where ever we go,
and virtue bless where ever we live.
Grant us Your light, that we may see
Where error lurks in human lore,
And turn our doubting minds to You.
And love Your simple world they more.
Grant us Your light, that we may learn
How dead is life from You apart;
How sure is joy for all who turn
To You an undivided heart,
Grant us Your light,that is grief and pain
To lift our burdened hearts above;
And count the very cross a gain
And bless our Father's hidden love.
Grant us Your light that we may trace
A pledge of life in seeming death;
And own the grave, a resting-place
Nor dread at last to sleep beneath.
Grant us Your light, when soon or late
All earthly scene may [pass away
In You to find the open gate

Haver you assumed a load,
Which few will share with you--
And are you carrying it for God,
And shall he fail to see?
Be comforted at heart,
You are not left alone;
Now, you the Lord's companion are,
Soon you will share His throne.

READ Luke 7 vv 36-50
Weary of Earth, and laden with my sin,
I look at Heaven and long to enter in;
But there no evil thing may find a home,
Ad yet I hear a voice that bids me “Come”
So bad I am how dare I hope to stand
In the pure glory of that holy land?
Before the whiteness of His throne appear?
Yet there are hands stretched out to draw me near.
While I would chose to tread the heavenly way,
Evil is ever with me day by day;
Yet on my eyes the gracious tidings fall,
“Repent. Believe, you shall be loosed from all”.
It is the voice of Jesus that I hear;
Nothing can I bring, dear Lord, for all I owe,
Yet let my full heart what it can bestow;
Like ointment sweet,let my devotion prove,
Forgiven greatly, how I greatly love.

READ Proverbs 2 v 1-11
Grant us Your light that we may know
The wisdom You alone can give;
That truth may guide where ever we go,
and virtue bless where ever we live.
Grant us Your light, that we may see
Where error lurks in human lore,
And turn our doubting minds to You.
And love Your simple world they more.
Grant us Your light, that we may learn
How dead is life from You apart;
How sure is joy for all who turn
To You an undivided heart,
Grant us Your light,that is grief and pain
To lift our burdened hearts above;
And count the very cross a gain
And bless our Father's hidden love.
Grant us Your light that we may trace
A pledge of life in seeming death;
And own the grave, a resting-place
Nor dread at last to sleep beneath.
Grant us Your light, when soon or late
All earthly scene may [pass away
In You to find the open gate
To deathless home and endless day
