WE GIVE THANKS FOR THE LORD'S PROVISION IN RECENT WEEKS. PRAISE HIS NAME!
I was asked to give a brief report on our work providing Bibles to Africa to the Saffron Walden Baptist Church congregation early in March. This resulted in an immediate donation of £10 which paid for 9 Bibles to Nigeria. Also I was asked by another friend not present to hear me what I had spoken about and he gave me a large cheque, another had come in the previous week through the Church Account for £500 plus Gift Aid,then 2 weeks later another 500 plus Gift Aid was received though I was not told who these 2 it had come from. In all we have received 9gifts amounting to £2635
This has enabled us to
( 1 ) pay £450 to Jackson Chanda for food from February to the end of June for the 6 AIDS Orphans, by which time the new harvest is expected to have been gathered in which is expected to be a bumper crop. Last year's was damaged by storms.
( 2 ) to pay for their next term's school fees. Friends in Kent are paying the 2 terms after that and we have enough in hand for the April payment 2015 taking them through to June 2015.
( 3) to complete last year's request for 150 Bibles in the Bemba Language for converts of the March 2013 Mission on the islands on Lake Mweru, Northern Zambia. We had 76 outstanding to supply. This has now been done, via Echoes of Hs Service.
( 4) to provide for two requests last autumn from Nigeria one from an evangelist for 321 AV, and one from a pastor for 300 AV which he has requested 3 times since. In February his church was attacked during worship by Islamist terrorists and several people were hospitalized.
(5) to provide 120 Bibles to a student group at Ibadan in Nigeria for use in evangelism on Campus.
(6) to provide a new Clockwork and Solar Powered Cassette/CD Player for use in a remote part of Africa using tribal dialect languages to people unable to read or write their language using new Bible translations. This is supplied by Global Recordings Network. UK We have 8 already in use in 7 countries and this latest one a Saber MP3 hand wide, is going to the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Eastern Congo, 2 hours drive from Goma on the border with Rwanda, where a tribe of the Pygmies People have been displaced by the Eastern Congo Civil War A Church has been begun in the commuity, using Swahili and their own language Kimbuti. The CD going there has 10 Gospel messages in the Kimbuti language, and is accompanied by illustrated books and the Flip Over Chart Set of picture illustrating the messages . Further messages can be downloaded from the Internet.
(7) to fund sending some cassettes and Christian literature to some Prisoners at the Maximum Security Prison at Kabwe. SGM Zambia has agreed to provide them Bibles. Some of them quite desperate in need asked for shoes, a suit to use when let out of prison, and toiletries. This would be very expensive from Britain to buy and post but we have asked the new Roman Catholic Chaplain there whether he could received money transfers or appoint someone responsible to do so, if these things can be bought in the nearby city of Kabwe, which is likely to be much less expensive and therefore a better use of limited funds. At present we have no funding for this.
(8) We have made a gift of £50 to Pastors Training International for Mini-Libraries of Books given to pastors who have no books who attend their training camps
(9) We have funded For 510 more Bibles for Pastor Sam Inmade in Nigeria whose Church's 2 years rent we paid last year. There have been many converts since. We have funded 25 to Evangelist Michelle, and another lady evangelist is being supplied with 30. ,
( 10 ) 280 Bibles have been sent to Pastor Celestine Christian of Bible Life Church, Ibdan, who we helped once before. He needs another 100 that will cost about £100 more that we need. A further 498 have been requested by Pastor Patricia Chi whom we supplied some 2 years ago, We will need over £500 if we are to supply them,
( 11 ) have paid a donation to Ashley Townsend of Thaxted Baptist Church and we hope others will. He is going out the Beira in Mozambique in April to oversee the construction of an accommodation block which will be used by BMS Action Team members in the future and training young people there in his carpentry skills. A skilled self employed carpenter he is also an experienced speaker for BMS World Mission in the churches. If you don't know his address you can send donations to him c/o Rev Wayne Evans, 21 Guelfs Lane, Thaxted, Dunmow, Essex, CM6 2PT.
( 12 ) We supplied a Fishing Cage via PRACTICAL ACTION for use in Bangladesh to help poor riverside fishermen create fish farms in flooded rural areas.
BMS WORLD MISSION THAILAND ACTION TEAM is visiting Saffron Walden area May 29th – June 3rd, 3 young ladies, mixing with young people at Ashdon, Great Sampford, Saffron Walden and Thaxted and visiting to local schools.
During the winter we have put a lot of things on my page on FACEBOOK shared with about 120 friends in the Baptist Church, Christians in other countries. Distant members of the Maddams family, Agnostics, Atheists and the Amnesty and Christ for all Nations Websites.
THE LORD THROUGH HIS PEOPLE during 2013 enabled us to supply about 8 or 10 local language Bibles for orphans in Malawi and we have donated £50 to their building fund to provide new toilets and shower units which had stalled due to lack of funds
We have been enabled to supply cassettes and videos largely unused now in the UK for use in Malawi, Zambia and Nigeria and Christian magazines and commentary resources to several believers overseas.
Supply a Bible to an elderly woman in Saffron Walden who lost hers when she moved house. Supply Bibles to Children in Bethlehem and Provide Bible Study aids to Belarus
Plant more trees in Uganda, Supply Gospel Gem Calendars to 25 elderly people, Help fund a Christian TV programme for transmission into Somalia. Help fund an Operation Mobilisation training officer and a full time secretary to improve the organisation of Pastors Training International.
Provide Bible Study Course resources in India
MAKING A DIFFERENCE from funds received in late 2012 and earlier in 2013 we were able
To pay two years rent on a hall in Nigeria for a Church whose premises had been destroyed by fire by Islamists
Provide 2 clockwork and solar powered CD/Cassette players for use by trained teams in remote parts of Senegal
Provide Frank Chilufya a converted murderer in Zambia with a Study Bible and Commentary resources..

If anyone can help with inspirational magazines please send them by printed paper direct to
Frank Chilufya. Maximum Security Prison. Death Row Ward, P.O Box 20915, Kabwe Zambia. Central Africa. Sent by surface rate they should get there in 8-9 weeks. We also fund the education of 6 AIDS Orphans. Funding is currently in place until June 2015.
From the Maximum Security Prison at Kabwe in Zambia at which our links with Zambia began about 12 years ago we have received new requests from several prisoners.
The first is from Ignatius Mukubesah for himself [28] and his brothers, Lupuka [ 24 ] and Bupe [ 19 ] all on Death Row Section,
A thief broke into Bupe's hut and the 3 brothers piled in and beat him up in revenge and shortly afterwards he died from the injuries and they were arrested, tried and found guilty of murder
and sentenced to be hanged by the neck until pronounced dead by a doctor. They are fortunate in that Zambia has not used the death penalty since the 1990's but they face the risk of long sentences. In prison through the work of other Christian prisoners they have become Christians.
Ignatius,has a wife Lungowe and twin girls and a boy. Lupuka, is married to Serah, and has 2 daughters. The men are unlikely to see them again for many years, if ever, as hundreds of miles lay between their village and the prison. As a result the children have all been expelled from school as there is no money to pay for their school fees. They and their mothers have been reduced to begging and the parents of the brothers have washed their hands of their sons and refuse to care for their children.
Ignatius has asked for toiletries [ razors, soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes, face flannels, towels,] shoes [ 2 pairs size 10 and 1 size size 9,] Christian books, Bibles, Gospel cassettes, CD's, winter clothing – thick shirts, and jumpers, bedding or sleeping bags, and “anything that will console our sorrow, loneliness, grievance and suicidal afflictions”.If anyone else can help please send material direct to Ignatius Mukubesah Maximum Security Prison,Death Row Section.P O Box 80915,KABWE. ZAMBIA..Central Africa
From the same address we have also received a letter from 3 prisoners Andson Chikumba, writing also for Brian Awilo Chibuye, and Lucky Mubanga Chanda They request toiletries, Gospel magazines. Christian newspapers, Gospel cassettes and CD's and Bibles. Kelvin will arrange 3 Bibles for them.
Obby. K. Mulanga has written again. We supplied him a pair of shoes, soap, toothpaste, towels, disposable razors in 2010 before we discontinued sending materials from UK by post. He is now asking the same again, with shoes sizes 9 or 10 so he will have decent shoes when he is discharged, and he is also asking for a suit. But does not give any size or measurement.
Then there is Lewison Zimba We have had 3 letters from him in the past year. He got involved in a fight with a friend. They had gone to a party. They drunk too much, argued and that led to a fight and he hit his friend's head against a wall and he died almost instantly. So Levison is in for a long stretch for murder and is desolate. His wife reduced to begging, his family and all his friends want nothing to do with him, he is a long way from home and he has 2 children who have been expelled from schools as there is no one to pay their fees. He has become a Christian since entering prison, and his wife and daughter have forgiven him. We sent him a Bible last year but we cannot do anything else. Certainly not for his children. He needs basic toiletries. At first he just wanted someone who would write to him but he has started asking for things despite being told we cannot supply. So now he has asked me to read his letter to my church, which will not be allowed, and put his needs on the Internet.
Pastor Dominic Mulalambuka is a Chaplain with the Zambian army who can recycle Gideon New Testaments or any other pocket size NT's If anyone can supply him direct do so to Pastor Dominic Mulalambuka. C/O TUG-ARGAN BARRACKS, ALPHA COMPANY , POSTAL AGENCY NDOLA ZAMBIA
JOSEPH S MUSONDA,
is another Christian long term prisoner also at the Maximum Security Prison in Kabwe, where he is a trusty, working in the education and training centre teaching English and Science to GCSE standard. We send him a diary and a calendar each year and recently we able to afford to send him some second hand Bible Study commentary booklets which he makes available at their Christian library. He could use more such material but if you can help please send it direct and not through us as we can seldom afford the costs. He would appreciate a thick warm shirt size 16, socks, and a pair of shoes size 9 – 10, a towel, and some soap, disposable razors, and packets of milk powder. If anyone feels like helping him. The address is through the Roman Catholic chaplain to:- JOSEPH S MUSONDA. c/o Father George Biju, S.V.D. Formation House, PO Box 81158, Kabwe, ZAMBIA. Central Africa.
NCHELENGE - TOGETHER WE SURVIVE GROUP - IN ZAMBIA
//////////////////////////////////////////////
In April 2013 we funded the freight and haulage costs of a consignment of tools, equipment and training sets to this group in Northern Zambia from Tools With A Mission at Ipswich in Suffolk. They arrived in July and are making a difference to unemployed and disabled young people. Nkuba Davies Chola their Secretary has now upgraded from a pen to a typewriter and his last letter to us was one of his first efforts. He has since taught himself to use a knitting machine and now is learning to use a sewing machine. This should enable him to acquire new skills to help him make a living and pay his way. The Group now operate centres in 11 villages and more people are being attracted to them. They will clearly need more help as time goes on and are looking for organisations and individuals that could help them. If anyone can help please write to him direct to Nkuba Davies Chola, TOGETHER WE SURVIVE GROUP. P O Box 740169, NCHELENGE, ZAMBIA He would like a digital camera and a printer. TWAM supplied a computer, but he is not attached to the Internet.
IMPROVING THE FUTURE IN ZAMBIA
//////////////////////////////
Peter Chengo, aged 40, is in prison at the Maximum Security Prison, at Kabwe, He has been there 9 years and during that time latterly has become a Born Again Christian. By trade he was a farmer. He has asked for a Bible and we have arranged for that to be supplied. He has 4 children Faith, Darius, Japhet, and Helmut.
He writes that he wonders how prisoners without strong belief in God survive. The System is flawed and brings many to deep discouragement and despair and hopelessness is palpable. There are infrequent suicides, prisoners going insane, prolonged bouts of depression and some have lived that way for so many years that they are unaware they are clinically ill.
Peter has experienced some of these troubles until he found solace in the words of the Bible. He contents himself patiently with a hope of a better future and favourable outcome by a forgiving God. His days are calmer and his disposition mellow and non-aggressive He feels that he is a new creature in Christ Jesus
He has been led to the decision that he should set up an organization at one of his 2 farms which will be training ex-prisoners and the children of prisoners now serving their sentences which will also target widows whose husbands have died of AIDS caught up in prostitution to survive as no other jobs are available, and the ever increasing number of Street Kids resulting from the AIDS epidemic. The aim is to train them in farming. It is to be called CHITUNGU ORPHANAGE CENTRE
He has consulted with Pastor Kwacka Mvula of the Prisoners Christian Fellowship and with his elder siset Miss Mary Ngulube. She will be the Chair assisted by Peter's 2 yonger brothers Bwalya Ngulube and Stanley Ngulube and his nephew Goodwell Paul Chingwa Peter in Prison has studied and attained a Certificate in Agriculture
His sister has done course in Agriculture and Teaching and looks after his productive farm where they grow maize, cassava, ground nuts, soya beans, and sunflowers and two areas of vegetable gardens His other farm where the centre is to be situated, is currently just trees and fallow wasteland as he did not have enough money to develop it,
He needs a grinding machine, and hoes, axes, wheelbarrows, shovels, spades, sewing machines, carpentry tools and other training kits, and money to build 2 or 3 buildings. It is an imaginative project but funding it will be a problem. I have introduced him to TOOLS WITH A MISSION at Ipswich UK who could probably supply most of the equipment he needs as donated to them and sent as free gifts, as to over 900 projects a year in Zambia alone. But freight and overland haulage costs would probably be between £1000 – £1200 and TWAM have no funds for that and rely on sponsors. From the content of his letter I would regard it as genuine but I am asking for references from various people I know in Zambia.
We have done 2 similar projects in Northern Zambia in 2011 transport costing £900 and 2013 costing £1300, to set up a youth skills vocational training service and an organisation that helps with training and employment for disabled people in 11 villages.
I have also tried to put him in touch with Mayamba Geoffrey Kuletela the first prisoner that I corresponded with in Zambia 12 years ago who we funded through several business courses by distance learning with a College in Jersey C.I. and when he left prison about 4 years ago set up an organisation to prepare prisoners for living out of prison when released after long sentences.
If anyone reading this feels inclined to help please get in touch with me.

UKRAINE.
////////
We have heard after a long break of nearly a year from Sergei Ivaniuk at Bocharovah in Ukraine. Since his Mum died he has had to move to a new smaller apartment and to resecure land owned in her name on the outskirts of the city. This has been very complicated and expensive. They have run out of time in securing the latter and that will make it more expensive and they have run out of money. He also expresses his shock at the divisions within the Ukrainian churches and the lovelessness of some who claim to be Christians. We will keep in touch and pray for him

Tony Kwasi Aboagye who we first knew as a student wrote recently to us “You have always been a source of inspiration and encouragement to me. I am where I am today because you allowed God to work through you to build a solid foundation of my spiritual life. I am currently doing my internship with New Life Christian Fellowship in Castro Valley, California. Life has really been rough in my seminary education but the grace of God has sustained me. Getting to my second year has been miraculous. God is indeed faithful. In March I will attend American Baptist Conference in Orlando, Florida where I will explore the opportunities of becoming a missionary for American Baptist Association. I have been preaching in my intern church and God has really glorified himself through my life. Blessings to you and more strength to continue with the good work you are doing for the Lord.

GOD'S POSTMEN
/////////////
We resumed distribution of VIA locally in the sunny days of early March with visits to Duxford . We have completed in Uttlesford, the hamlets of Willow Green, and ### thingy Green and the villages of Good Easter, and Leaden Roding, We have the 3 smaller Rodings to do. Great & Little Canfield, Chickney, Tilty, and Great Hallingbury, and maybe over the border to Matching Green, where years ago there used to be a Baptist Mission chapel, Helions Bumpstead and a few homes at Wimbish Green. After that we have in mind visiting Great Bardfield just outside the Uttlesford border, Then using both edition 41 and the new edition 43 our target areas are other parishes just beyond the Uttlesford Northern border – Great Chishill, Heyden, Whittlesford, Pampisford and Linton.
- Using my bus-pass for possibly that last year as it is expected they will be discontinued after the 2015 General Election I may aim at some of the housing estates of Sawston. DV During the 2014-2015 Winter using Edition 43 we may aim at the Housing Estates of Saffron Walden, which we last distributed to from 2003 – 2009. During the past winter we have delivered to new homes at Water Tower End off Debden Road, and Vanoli Close in Radwinter Road. New homes are being built at the Avenue, and off Catons Lane, and on the South side of Ashdon Road where there are 4 new roads. When these homes are occupied they will be prioritised for a delivery
### thingy Proboards has a rule on not using offensive language. so they persist in calling this hamlet thingy Green ,
I will try to spell the real name with dots between the letters C.O.C.K. Green. How stupid can they get? As most of us know the word means a male chicken, frequently used for pub names as well as a slang expression for part of the male anatomy that I dare not give it's correct name less they get offended by that too.
This coming year marks the beginning of the Great War of 1914-1918

which in fact then caused the Spanish Civil War and WW 2 1939-45 which did not really end until 1990 with the liberation of Communist Europe and collapse of the Soviet Union. As we did for the 90th anniversary we hope to supply more Bibles and Testaments for the Armed Forces and Cadet Forces by the Naval,Military & Air Force Bible Society based in Portsmouth.

ARAB VISION
///////////
We ask you to learn more about this vitally important work by accessing www.arabvision.org
While the eyes of the world are focused on countries in the Middle East such as Syria and Egypt, developments elsewhere in the Arab World are left almost unnoticed. For more than 10 years Arab Vision has been producing evangelistic TV programs for Algeria, many of them in the language of the Kabyle people who live in the mountainous region in the north east of Algeria known as Kabylia.
The Kabyle people are often more open to learn about and accept the Christian faith partly because, as a minority, they have never welcomed the Arab majority nor the Arabic language and the accompanying religion, Islam. Reports about the numbers of Christians vary greatly. Some estimates count hundreds of thousands of new believers in the last decade and a minimum of 300 new churches.
Islamic scholars however state that the ‘problem of Christianization’ is not limited to Kabylia only, but is growing in the rest of the country as well - a problem we would like to reword as a blessing!
The Algerian government prefers to trivialize the growth in the number of Christians, and emphasizes that particularly youth are easily influenced temporarily, enticed by scholarships abroad in exchange for converting to Christianity.
Our faith influenced by Early Church History?
Our books on church history have a tendency to focus on Europe in regard to the beginnings of our history. After looking at the history of the early church in the bible itself, we often quickly jump to ‘Rome’ as if that is where our history began. Are we aware at all of the deep influence of the African theologians on our church history and on our Christian beliefs today?
Arab Vision is planning the production of a TV program series in the Arabic languages of Libya and Tunisia, presenting major church leaders who originated in those countries. North-Africa, now predominantly Islamic, can be proud of its Christian heritage. This has deeply influenced the theology of the whole Christian church. The apostle Mark was born in Libya; just like the heretical Arius by the way. St Augustine was from Tunisia; Tertullian and bishop Cyprian were from Carthage, Tunisia as well.
By presenting the history and ideas of these and other church leaders, we have a great opportunity to present the Gospel to the Arab world. Major themes like original sin, Trinity, redemption through Jesus Christ, can be explained to the audiences in a very natural way, in the context of presenting the objective history of the North African church. Not only will we be able to present the Gospel naturally and clearly to the audience, but we can also show how these countries flourished while still being Christian nations, and that Tunisians, Algerians and Libyans can be proud of their own Christian history.

BRAZIL Charlotte Piek born and brought up in South Africa whose parents are members of Thaxted Baptist Church is with her husband a member of Bishop's Stortford Community Church and works at the Christian School at Takeley where she also runs a Youth Alpha Course.
She is UK Co-ordinator of MENINADANCA [ UK Charity number 10956638 ] The Lord has laid upon her a passion to save vulnerable girls from Prostitution in the towns of Brazil along Highway BR 116.. The name of this mission means Girl Dance and includes a Dancing Training Centre at a safe house called the Pink House established at one of the smaller towns between the great cities on this Highway where girls as young as 6 are bought or abducted by trafficker gangs and groomed and raped and prepared for a life of perverted sex, drug addiction, and sexually transmitted disease including AIDS, She shared her shock of seeing men piling out of a Church service and picking up such vulnerable kids to go and have sex with them.
Like many Christians in Britain at the height of the Afro-American slave trade who saw no wrong in selling and owning black savages unaware that they were fully human, people for whom Christ died,so these men in Brazil have yet to be re-educated,
MENINADANCA seeks to give these girls a sense of their real value and change their lives for the better and bring salvation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is hard because some come from families of 4 or 5 generations of prostitution. To maintain the Pink House work needs £4000 a month, and they would like to establish similar safe houses in 2 more towns for which they will need to recruit new staff.
Their work has been highlighted on a Panorama programme and in a book out this autumn HIGHWAY TO HELL They can accept Gift Aided donations, to MENINADANCA PO Box 11116 Stansted, CM24 8WL and supply a weekly email update for prayer supporters Website www.meninadanca.org Email charlotte.piek@menindanca.org Phone +44(0) 7738 234042.

“SAY NOT, MY SOUL, 'FROM WHENCE 'CAN GOD RELIEVE MY CARE?'”
Just found thus hymn written into my JOURNAL April 1st 1994 That day was Good Friday that year.
Say not, my soul, 'From whence
'Can God relieve my care?'
Remember that Omnipotence
Has servants everywhere.
God's help is always sure,
His method seldom guessed;
Delay will make our pleasure pure,
Surprise will give it zest.
His wisdom is sublime,
His heart profoundly kind;
God never is before His time,
And never is behind.
Hast thou assumed a load,
Which few will share with thee,-
And art thou carrying it for God,
And shall He fail to see?
Be comforted at heart,
Thou art not left alone;
Now, thou the Lord's companion art;
Soon, thou wilt share His throne.
Written by Thomas Toke Lynch [ 1818 -1871 ]
He was at first a teacher and then minister of Highgate Independent Church. His Church was in a poor way and he resigned and gathered together a congregation first at Mortimer Street and then Grafton Street, Fitzroy Square 1849 - 1852,
Thomas wrote many hymns, and published them in a book THE RIVULET in 1855.He called it that “For Christian poetry is indeed a river of the Water of Life, and to this river my rivulet brings it's contribution”. He suffered much ill health and had to give up work for a time.In1860 he began again in Gower Street, and then in an iron building back in Mortimer Street until his death in aged 53. He had an odd appearance and and his appeal was to a select group. He had great courage and spirituality.
The book gave rise to bitter controversy splitting Congregationalism and affecting Baptists. Charles Spurgeon the great Baptist preacher described his poems as having a negative theology and lacking doctrine. Thomas showed a fine spirit. Lacking all bitterness throughout the controversy though the strain brought a breakdown of his health and hastened his premature death, [ So much for the criticism from fellow Christians ] He was also a composer who composed 25 tunes for his hymns. He was heard singing on his deathbed “ Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah” and his last words were “Now I am going to begin to live”.

//////////////////////////////////////////////
//////////////////////////////

ARAB VISION
///////////

God's help is always sure,
His method seldom guessed;
Delay will make our pleasure pure,
Surprise will give it zest.
His wisdom is sublime,
His heart profoundly kind;
God never is before His time,
And never is behind.
Hast thou assumed a load,
Which few will share with thee,-
And art thou carrying it for God,
And shall He fail to see?
Be comforted at heart,
Thou art not left alone;
Now, thou the Lord's companion art;
