OVERSEAS EVANGELISM AUXILLARY 50th ANNIVERSARY
###################################
This year of 2008 Lighthouse Prayer Ministry (MCCPF) marks our the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of sending Christian material overseas through what was called the OEA.
In that time we have reached out to over 20,000 individual people across 191 countries, some of whom have reached out to more using materials we were able to send or arrange.
We have also funded the dubbing of the JESUS FILM into other languages, and supported radio and television evangelism in various countries and provided hundreds of small grants around the world for evangelistic, pastoral, training and social projects but the trust fund for that has now been closed down.
The cost of distribution has so spiralled that we concentrate on keeping in touch several times a year with a small group of people in Ukraine, Estonia, Ghana, and Zambia supplying The WORD for TODAY quarterly, and several magazines.
Apart from that we have 3 projects left that will continue, or wind down, depending on what income we receive.
1 REUSABLE RESOURCES
========================
Our ministry began about July 1954 when I was 15, by the setting up of a Recycling Project to help charities through which amongst other things we collected comics, books and general magazines for the local hospital children’s ward, orphanages, almshouse tenants and waiting rooms.
We continue still to send packages of second hand Bible Reading booklets, Books and Cassettes to several centres in Malawi, Ghana and Zambia where they can be usefully deployed. This has included some Roman Catholic material sent to us that we sent to Father Benny Bohan an Irish missionary who is RC Chaplain to Kabwe Prison Zambia through whom much of our material passes into the prison.
We appreciate those friends who pass on to us second hand “ Jiffy” Bags and large envelopes of various sizes which with plenty of wrap tape and some card we send materials abroad.
We continue to receive booklets and small books from the Oxfam Book Shop that they are unable to offer for sale but which our overseas contacts can use, along with Bible reading, devotional and study materials from various friends, We have run out of money for sending these having spent several hundred pounds in the last 2 months to clear 4 large cardboard boxes of material.
So we are not asking for additional material but we publish the places where such material may be sent
So if anyone would like to send their material then post it without sending it to us.
We send all packages by Surface Small Packet Rate marking the package in the top left hand corner with the words Small Packet Rate and in the bottom left hand corner placing a self adhesive CN 22 white Customs Declaration label with the Gift Box ticked, and approximate value stated and the description of contents marked as books, booklets, cassettes or bibles, and a signature and date added at the bottom.
No letter should be included but a piece of paper stating briefly your name and address as the sender may be included. On the back of the package add “Sent from” “ and add your “name and address. THE CENTRES ARE

We have this past. year sent to Enock a set of world maps that are to be usedin the Maoni Orphanage School, and paid for 100 Bibles in the native language to replace copies lost by individual Christians in the January floods, an envelope of previous years Calendar pictures with the dates cut off as these can either be posted up to brighten a classroom or used one to one as a teaching aid.
15 Bibles in the Shona language each one for a pastor of new churches in Mozambique, and packages of evangelistic literature, and books.
We have received this message from Enock on July 22nd
Dear Brother Maddams,
Thank you very much for the parcels you sent that have reached us now and as I can see you have included children books and the pictures.
Yes this will help us a lot in teaching the young ones at Maoni Orphanage and we are going to decorate their dormitories through those pictures.
We are all doing fine and we thank you for all your support and prayers that makes the work of the Lord to go ahead here in Malawi.
I want to tell you also that all your literatures you are sending are doing great things and I have been seen people coming to my office wanting to have those literature itens and here most of the People they don't have Bibles.
May God bless you for this.
Enock
Enock is now requesting Authorised Version English Bibles which could be usefully deployed in their orphanage and school. He could usefully use 100. Modern English Bibles published since 1881 are not required.
On Nov 16th 2008 a severe tropical storm hit the school and clinic. No one was hurt but damage amounting to £1,900 has been done to the roof of the clinic and one classroom

CRUSADE 1955 SONG BOOKS. When the Christians of Saffron Walden Baptist Church cleared their premises for their Millennial Premises Redevelopment Project a box was rediscovered of music and words Song Books used for the 1955 Billy Graham Relay Rally. Some of these have gone to Dominic and others to various other pastors in Ghana, Malawi and Zambia.
When we get the money we have some Words Only and Music and Words editions of Redemption Songs to send abroad which were sent to us by a mistake some years ago by Rattray Street Baptist Church. Dundee. While in the UK there has been a great deal of change in recent years to using only Modern English Scriptures and modern Christian songs, there is still a great deal of Christian teaching and inspiration in the old hymns, songs and choruses either used by groups or for private devotion by individuals, sung or read.
AV BIBLES, BOOK AID will accept them. If you have a quantity, contact Mr & Mrs Barrett of Histon 01223 233063 Book Aid’s Regional Representative in East Anglia. They may be able to collect them or tell you where to deliver them to be picked up. Outside East Anglia contact 020 8857 7794
NEW LIFE NEWS
We are continuing our 8 year project to deliver a copy of New Life Newspaper to every home in Saffron Walden. All the South, West and Centre of the town has been delivered to and part of the area north of Ashdon Road.
At one stage we included a flier offering information about local churches service times, and contact addresses but as all the church leaders made it clear that they did not want to associate with this distribution the flier directs anyone interested to the Tourist Information Office or our web board site through which contact can be made through the Town Council website to those congregations who have web sites. In the past 12 months over 100 people have visited our board set up for Seeking Christians in Saffron Walden.
Still the churches all tend to try to get people to come into their buildings despite the fact that research several years ago showed that the majority of people don’t want to do that and if they are to be reached at all it is where they live.
Distributing a 12 page Christian paper just once and encouraging people to subscribe to it, is totally inadequet but it is still better than doing nothing.
We have reached all the new housing and as more comes on stream we will reach those homes too.
3. MINISTRY OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Another way of reaching people is at weddings, the birth of a baby, christenings, confirmation, illness, the death of a loved one, in times of sickness, or depression, and for birthdays and we often send a special card with a booklet.
We use a series of booklets produced by RBC Ministries including 4 different introductory editions of OUR DAILY BREAD, which people can then sign up to receive quarterly.
They use the New King James Version Bible translation for their quotations. This is one of the corrupt versions and we add a slip advising people to use the Authorised Version along side them in order to discover anything missed out,
These are often most appreciated. We also use message and music gospel cassettes in this ministry, and personal correspondence, phone calls and emails. We wont this year for Christmas be using Gospel Gem Calendars as they quote from the corrupt versions.
But we may use Words of life Calendars with one text a month or Golden Thoughts calendars with a daily thought from the AV both from the Trinitarian Bible Society.

=======
For 14 years we have communicated with LAINE PIIRIMAEE at Johvi in Estonia the widowed English teacher who was not a committed Christian when we began but is now. Through her we have been able to pray for the folk listed below and help some. We continue to send her WAR CRY, and The WORD for TODAY for her and for friends.. Laine was recently burgled. She finished up in hospital injured and traumatised, she cannot understand why the world has changed so much and for the worst,
Piret [Geography teacher] and Kadri (in Yorkshire) & her boyfriend Chris

They all need to learn more about Jesus & how to follow him.
ETHIOPIA
AYELE HALISSO
of PO Box 2532 NAZERETH. ETHIOPIA a lay-evangelist whom last year we enabled to complete his 3 year teacher training course is now bewildered, He is unable to get a job. So he is without work with 4 siblings aged 11-17 in his care reduced to begging.
He expressed a wish to go to South Africa at the end of July to work telling us he needed and needed £2,400 to do so.
We thought he meant to go and live there and work as a teacher. He was sure that God would provide an answer to prayer, through me, and there was no one else in the world that could help him than me. I pointed out that if God wanted him to go, God would provide the money, and if He did not provide, He did not expect him to go.
The Minister of the Evangelical Church at NAZERETH where Ayele and his siblings have been staying for about 18 months, used up half of his 3 months salary to pay for Ayele’s Passport.
Investigation suggests that Ayele has been duped by smugglers who would have stripped him of all the money leaving him stranded alone in a foreign land unable to get home and sucked into a life of crime.
Ethiopians in South Africa are being persecuted as unemployment mounts and are leaving their homes and businesses and taking refuge in UN refugee camps.
We have taken steps through a friend in Washington USA to try to help Ayele in the hope that Christians on the ground can get him a teaching post some where in rural Ethiopia where the government are having difficult finding staff. Please pray for a successful out come of this matter.
ALEMAYEHU MAMMO. now lives and works in America, but knows a ministry in Nazareth and is going to ask them to check Ayele out and see if they can help him. Alemayehu thanks us for doing what we have over the years to help a fellow countryman. He himself came to the UK in 2001 to attend a publishers conference as an author and an editor He sought me out for help in finding Christian literature organisations that could help him,
I supplied several addresses and SOON Worldwide were particularly helpful he now has 2 published books under his belt and other projects and serves the Lord as a member of an Ethiopian church in Washington USA which has over 2,200 members, He is now married with 2 children. Let us pray Ayele will also have a happy ending.

ANTHONY ABOAGYE
===============
One of my “sons” who calls me Dad, as his own Dad has been dead for years, and I’ve been able to help him through school and college is Secretary of Victory Baptist Church PO Box 119 Accra Ghana. Having failed last year to get the Visa to the USA to train for the Baptist Ministry, as he could not get a job there paying 25,000 dollars a year, and his Ghanaian sponsors were unable to support his application into the Baptist Seminary in Ghana as he would have needed a job to support himself there and could not get one.
He is remaining teaching at the Junior School at Malam Accra while looking for some better paid teaching post. His term as Church Youth Fellowship President has ended but he has taken up a voluntary administrative role in the Accra Baptist Youth Association
He recently organised an outing of the young people to Kakum, a historical place some way from the capital where there is canopy walk that people visit from all over the world, up amongst the tree tops.
He has had a vision for spreading the Gospel in Senior High Schools.
It appears to include using a local TV network and sounds expensive.
After several international phone calls he now keeps in touch by email. He asked for a pocket edition of the Good News Bible NT which has been sent to him.
He is concerned for his poverty stricken widowed mother, and an uncle who has been looking after Anthony’s younger brother has asked him to take his two younger brothers in their early teens to live with him in the city so that they can go to High School.
He can only afford to rent one room, he teaches city juniors, and has his hands full with church youth work, so he has been unable yo pursue this suggestion.
He is now to studying after school hours at a Methodist University College on a Business Course with a Government Student Loan We have sent a small grant to help him buy books for his course.

Koforidua E/R GHANA It is a 4 year course but his previous qualifications apparently enable him to do it in 3 years. We have sent a couple of addresses of large educational business training Trusts which he could apply to, but we are unable to help him financially, He is paying half the cost, He is asking for help with the other half.
He can be reached he says on bawah26@yahoo.com

HUMPHREY MUSONDA.
=============================
For over a year we have been trying to send a £100 grant to fund the final 2 terms of this young man’s secondary education at Kamfinsa High School. Kitwe. Over 18 months ago the uncle who had been funding it died, while his father is in Prison.
We have had to contend with late arrivals of letters and lost letters so that we did not establish links with his guardian aunt Elizabeth Chilamukunta for months and then found his school hundreds of miles south from where she lived.
Then a pastor of the Zambian Prison Fellowship who was to have visited the school to arrange transmission of the money, through himself, failed to do so and then we arranged to send it by MoneyGram International to the Headmaster but that air letter took 3 months to reach its destination, possibly delayed by the damage of the violent storms earlier in the year, but finally on July 7th 2008 we heard from Headmaster Benson Mwale and on the 8th the money was sent.
The boy has had to be laid off school at times, and his father sold off all his personal effects back home including his bed to raise money. Considering how often I have felt like throwing in the towel with this one, it shows that persistence and prayer go hand in hand. Please pray for Humphrey, and Elizabeth and his Dad Joseph.
MULENGA KATETE OSCAR, AND DAVIES PHIRI,
================================
are at Maximum Security Prison, Death Row Section, P O Box 80915, Kabwe Zambia. They have both expressed thanks for “Help Parcels” [ a towel, a flannel, a tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, disposable razors, pants and socks]. These particular prisoners are incarcerated hundreds of miles from their home villages and their relatives have disowned them anyway.
But if we are realistic they really need that twice or thrice a year. These prisoners have expressed their concern about a sense of loneliness and neglect. We also sent Mulenga & Davies Bibles, Gospel Gem Calendars and RBC Bible teaching booklets. These they much appreciated.
Mulenga wrote that he would dearly love a decent second hand pair of size 7 shoes. All he had were some flip flops that were falling to pieces.
A pair of shoes donated with money for postage have been sent by airmail.
If we could find a UK Christian for each prisoner on our books to send some toiletries 2 or 3 times a year with a letter of encouragement that would be a great help.
We have sent a similar parcel there to Richard Hajeya. Similarly placed there, he asked for groceries but we cannot send them.
We also sent one to his cell mate and to
MALAMBO TREVOR DGUNDU
====================
of the Medium Security Prison P O Box 80950 Kabwe Zambia
who is 24 and has been in prison since he was 17 for dealing in drugs, and was an addict.
In prison he has become a born again Christian. All he asked for was advice on what to do when he is released as his family and friends disowned him and he has no where to go. He may be released this year or early next. We have supplied him with a number of addresses in Kabwe and other parts of Zambia of people who may be able to help him. He would appreciate if other Christians expecially about his own age could write to him to encourge him.
SHADRACK SHAMUSALE
==================
at the same prison wrote requesting £550 to enable him to do an external college course by distant learning with a training trust and take an exam in it. We could not provide such help, He said that he had virtually no clothes and was near naked, So we will have to see whether we can send hin a shurt and trousers and some toiletries. He became a Christian in prison.
DAVID DIMUNA SHIBALIKA
===========================
writes to tell us that another CASSETTE TAPE RECORDER / PLAYER is needed at the Maximum Security Prison at Kabwe. We sent one there 3 years ago to a prisoner who has moved on to another prison and taken it with him.
We provided batteries to power another in another part of the prison.. They had the machine but no means of powering it. If someone has one that could be sent we can continue to supply both Bible teaching cassettes and gospel music cassettes. Failing that, one or two now unwanted cassette playing Walkman machines could be useful, even a CD Walkman might be useful as we may be able supply Gospel CD’s.
Rather than post a machine to me send direct to David Dimuna Shibalika Maximum Security Prisons’ c/o Revd. Bernard Bohan, Bwacha Parish Church, P O Box 80613, Kabwe ,Zambia and let me know. David has been ill quite a long time with malaria. We have sent him a mosquito net he asked for.
MAYAMBA GEOFFERY KULETELA

one of the first prisoners we were in touch with at Kabwe since 1998 and became a Christian in prison and subsequently served there as library assistant and a class tutor, was released on a full presidential pardon last year and is in regular work but has set up an organisation with Government support to help train prisoners and prepare them for life outside.
He needs advice and expertise from other people in this field.
If anyone may be able to help him to get in touch with such help please contact him on geoffreymayamba@Yahoo.com ( or if that does not work try geofferymayambo@Yahoo.com or write to him c/o Pastor Kwaka Mvula PO Box 35538 Lusaka Zambia

He is married with several children and about 14 grandchildren. Born into a Presbyterian home, educated at an Anglican school, he joined a church and held offices in it and became a member of an interdenominational committee which opened up to him a lot of information about how churches organise, and work. He is a very cultured man, knows a lot of what the Bible says and is a Physicist with wide scientific knowledge and experience but from all his discoveries he is now a convinced Atheist.
Only prayer can unlock that man’s soul. He has helped me a lot with information about the Fuller and Gwennap families who played such an important part in the foundation of Saffron Walden Baptist Church in the 18th and 19th centuries. He is a descendent of our first minister Joseph Gwennap’s family. He has been silent for 18 months but has now started emailing again.

NONCONFORMIST WALK 2008.
======================
We had the local Nonconformist Walk in June, when a party of about 34 people visited in 6 hours the places or sites of 10 of the 12 nonconformist churches in Walden. There are two away from the Town Centre they could not include, the New Life Pentecostal Church, and the Railway Mission. I received them at the Baptist Church with a display of archives, a 3 panel Photo Chart of the development of the Church in Walden from 1548 until 2008, a 13 minute talk about the different forms of baptism, and why there had been 3 Baptist churches on Walden. I had to answer 8 questions and I also learnt some more about our 3rd minister which has caused the 10th edition to be amended at least on the web-board.
I issued to them Gift Packs containing “Jesus Christ the same Yesterday, Today and for Ever “ The 10th edition of the history of Walden Baptists 1708 - 2008 in leaflet form, along with a leaflet “Christians Together in Saffron Walden”, which summarises the general history of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Church (HACC) from AD 30,to the Reformation, and then the chronological development of that Church until now in Walden. All Christians are members of the HACC.
Also a leaflet about “The Source and Development Baptism “.
The booklet “Love is The Bridge” a version of the Gospel according to the apostle John and the introductory edition of OUR DAILY BREAD. I have been asked to participate in a 2 day week end History Fair in Saffron Walden involving the villages too. There is a growing public interest in non-Conformity that we should lock on to share the Gospel with.
EXERCISING THE GIFTS OF TALKING, SINGING, WRITING, AND PHOTOGRAPHY.
#########################################
Lighthouse Ministry grew out of my work as a Lay Preacher. Leading services around the churches over 16 years I reached around 300 people but through literature ministry I’ve been enabled to reach over 45,500 people and supporting radio and TV evangelism reaching a potential 2 million. However since 2002 more opportunities to speak to groups of people have arisen.
I gave a talk to the Jubilee Club in June, after one in February , being the first and second episodes of My Memoirs from my childhood up to 1995. I’ve been invited back in October to complete the Trilogy.
At the June event I included some testimony and gave away copies of the introductory edition of OUR DAILY BREAD.
I was asked to speak to the Over Sixties Club at the end of July and my subject was “Tom, thingy , & Harry, Bill the Grocer and Tom the Miller’s son” about some of the characters I’ve uncovered in my family history research and bringing the Christian message into that. I sang as solo “O Happy day that fixed my choice on Thee my Saviour and my God” This was my grandfather Kidman’s favourite hymn. There I distributed anothe 24 OUR DAILY BREAD Booklets. I have been invited to speak sometime at Hatherly House Nursing Home.
These opportunities have arisen from earlier talks to the CAMEO Club, the Methodist Guild and the URC Women’s Fellowship. I expect to be giving another slides lecture at Four Acres Community in the autumn. In July I was invited to sing a solo at the CAMEO Club. and I did so again in August. Both songs I wrote for camp concerts. I do sometimes sing solo spiritual songs
I have been asked to provide a 6 panel display of the beginnings and development of the Boys Brigade Company at Saffron Walden for the celebrations on October 5th marking the 125th.Anniversary of the founding of the Boys Brigade in 1883.
I am hoping to write up “BB the first 20 Years” about the Walden BB Company to put on our Web Board Site later in the year. I’m also working on a brief “History of Churches Together in Saffron Walden” from 1946 - 2006 to put on the site.
If God preserves my life a bit longer I have a number of articles on the block for the web board about aspects of the history of the Baptist Church here including
The Preachers about 17 people called to be ministers,
200 years of Youth Work,
The Women’s Own.
I have 5 selections of scriptures on themes, to produce for the web board.
This comes on top of editing the Four Acres Community News FAN monthly and assisting in 5 community groups there weekly, and fortnightly washing up for The Well one morning, and at CAMEO one afternoon. Also participating in Tenants Forum Meetings at the District Council Offices.
I still have several sets of archive albums to complete and after that I was thinking of producing some more brief accounts for the Web Board about other religions.
Also I’d like, DV , to transfer the local Baptist Church History CD to my bebo blog board. I now have the equipment to do that but the 140 coloured illustrations have to be changed from bmp images to jpeg images, then recorded onto a CD and then loaded from CD on to the web site one at a time and captioned which will take many hours. So I am thinking in terms of late 2009.
I’d like then to get the Four Acres Community history “SILVER THREADS” on that too. The Blog site can be linked with the Proboards Web Board site, which is linked to the Church Web site.
There is always lots of things to do to occupy body, mind and soul. Praise the LORD!
Your prayer support is greatly appreciated, as prayer generates energy which God uses to change situations and people in a way that is not clear to us but if we don’t pray these things don’t happen.
Doing God’s work means being patient, faithful, and undefeated because some of it takes days, months, and years to change. God is never too late or too early.
Several times this year I have met people who are Christians now for whom I prayed years that they would become Christians when it seemed most unlikely. Kind regards JOHN

========================

HUMPHREY MUSONDA.
=============================
MULENGA KATETE OSCAR, AND DAVIES PHIRI,

are at Maximum Security Prison, Death Row Section, P O Box 80915, Kabwe Zambia.
We also sent one to his cell mate and to

of the Medium Security Prison P O Box 80950 Kabwe Zambia
who is 24 and has been in prison since he was 17 for dealing in drugs, and was an addict.
In prison he has become a born again Christian. All he asked for was advice on what to do when he is released as his family and friends disowned him and he has no where to go. He may be released this year or early next. We have supplied him with a number of addresses in Kabwe and other parts of Zambia of people who may be able to help him. He would appreciate if other Christians expecially about his own age could write to him to encourge him.

at the same prison wrote requesting £550 to enable him to do an external college course by distant learning with a training trust and take an exam in it. We could not provide such help, He said that he had virtually no clothes and was near naked, So we will have to see whether we can send hin a shurt and trousers and some toiletries. He became a Christian in prison.

writes to tell us that another CASSETTE TAPE RECORDER / PLAYER is needed at the Maximum Security Prison at Kabwe.

======================
