LIGHTHOUSE PRAYER MINISTRY NEWS DECEMBER 2008 ###################################
Privately distributed half-yearly with an extended updated version on this Web Board Site
LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRY (MCCPF) Founded 1954.
From :Administrator John E Maddams 35 Four Acres. Saffron Walden CB11 3JD UK
The object of Lighthouse Prayer Ministry (MCCPF) is
“The Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom into all the world”
“REST IN THE LORD AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM “Psalm 37 verse 7 and Jesus said “WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING” John 15 verse 5.
If you have not received this newsletter before please read it and if you feel that you can pray about any or all of it please do so. I quite understand if you may feel that you cannot..
2008 marked the 300th Anniversary of Baptist Witness in Saffron Walden with the formation of the first Baptist Group when some people dissatisfied with the services at Abbey Lane Independent Church are believed to have begun meeting in a home in Gold Street which concluded with the official formation in 1711 of the Saffron Walden General Baptist Church which later moved to Hill Street.
2008 also marked the 50th Anniversary of Lighthouse Prayer Ministry’s Overseas Evangelism Auxillary begun here in 1958,
2008 also represents my 70th Birthday Year.
OEA has helped a lot of people in many countries but we are now limited to support the Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom in a small number of countries, in a ministry of outreach, aid, and encouragement
This year I am reducing my Christmas Card circulation to a very small number and using some money to commemorate my birthday by supporting this next new project
PROJECT IRAN
There is a ministry operating in the area of Iran and reaching people from Iran who aim over the next 2 years to supply 500,000 New Testaments to those who desire them. For further information contact Elam Ministries, P O Box 75. Godalming. Surrey, GU8 6YP Website. www.elam.com
Many in Iran are unhappy with their present government and their president is now highly unpopular because of his attitude to the West as the country's economy is 85% dependent on the sale of oil. Oil is now down to under 50 dollars a barrel and the great demand from the Far East has dried up due to the Credit Crisis. The majority of the population is under the age of 25. Iranian Christians are few. It is hoped that the distribution free of thousands of New Testaments in the region will eventually help people in Iran as change takes over in that beleagued country and that will help some to learn of Jesus for the first time.
AFGHANISTAN NEEDS A LOT OF PRAYER
There is really no such thing as an Afghan nor a united nation of Afghans, The 28 million population is made up of different tribes and clans who tend to settle their differences with violence,
42% are Pashtun, 27% are Tajik, 9% are Hazara, 9% are Uzbek, plus 4% Aimak, 3% Turkmen 2% Baluchi and several others.
They have fought the British Empire, the Indians, the Russians, and now the USA and it's allies. No one has succeeded in civilizing them.
During Taliban rule the ethnic Pashtuns tried to impose their will on a multi ethnic society by replacing the leaders of those different ethnic races with Pashtun leaders.
The Pashto speaking Taliban could not even communicate with the local Persian speaking Afghans and they opposed the Shia branch of Islam.
The only way Afghanistan will ever be a united country is when Jesus Christ rules on earth as King, and all nations will have to obey Him or accept the consequences, No man or nation can defeat the will of God.
Meanwhile very few people in that land know Jesus Christ, but some do and while there is no organized Church there, there are groups of Christians, and the way to help them and reach out with help to other Afghans is by Radio. For further information contact www.feba.org.uk
