LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRY (MCCPF) Founded 1954.
From :Administrator John E Maddams 35 Four Acres. Saffron Walden CB11 3JD UK
The object of Lighthouse Prayer Ministry (MCCPF) is
“The Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom into all the world
WHERE NOW ?
#############
It is almost 56 years now since this ministry began. World population hovered around 2 billion. Today it exceeds 7 billion. Britain was hauling itself out of years of austerity and it may now be entering new austerity. I had left the Sunday School which itself had collapsed, its leaders abused by a new minister and new younger deacons. New people were in charge and a lot of the children had left too rebelling against the changes of the new regime. There were hardly any teenage church members left just two young women. I became a few months later the first of a new stream of young Church Members.
56 years later this ministry has reached out to just under 50,000 people of whom 20,210 have been outside the UK scattered across 191 other countries. By some support for Radio and TV ministries we have reached out potentially to about 2 million more. My ability to fund this work is severely hampered by rising living costs and income from other friends has in most cases dropped and we are down to about 10 in number.
Over the years at several points I have reckoned this ministry had ended. In particular in 1997 and 2008 but still it hangs on by it’s finger nails. We may only reach a few people directly but they may be significant people. People who may act as catalysts to something new. By encouraging them we encourage those they will reach. The Noughties are behind us, the first decade of the 21st century. Where now?
The money that funds our main budget for the year has been exhausted over Christmas and January, At present we have just enough to mail existing second hand Bible reading notes handed to us.
We were able this year to supply 5 Bibles to Mongolia and a third Clock work Cassette/CD player for use in Africa. As more money comes in we can use it but until it does we have stopped functioning apart maybe some local village tracting in the spring until we run out of the few hundred tracts left, but we don’t stop praying and prayer opens opportunities.
PERSONALLY
##############
I am 71, the age my Dad died at. The years ahead are fewer than those behind, but beyond those few years eternal life, given to me through Jesus Christ, by God my Father who owns everything in and beyond the Universe, stretches into infinity and beyond. I may only be here a few more months and probably no more than 30 years.
2010 I hope. DV, to complete and pack away my family researches, and write up to my web board site a number of local history documents.
2011 will find me working towards an exhibition marking the 300th Anniversary of 1st Baptist Church Saffron Walden ( Gold Street & Hill Street ) and the 250th Anniversary of 2nd Baptist Church Saffron Walden (High Street).
2012 will find me involved in helping to organise the Golden Jubilee of the Four Acres Community ( 1962 -2012) . The rest is uncharted territory. Anything may happen.

In 1965 as the new Missionary Secretary at the Baptist Church I started the Annual Christmas Charity Appeal. The first year raised £10. Since then we have helped over 100 charities. This year over £2000 was raised of which £1,730 was for supplies for Mercy Ships and that is being used for their ship on it’s way to Haiti. Our Church are collecting for 4 weeks donations for the BMS Relief Fund which provides supplies to our Baptist Hospital in North East Haiti, untouched by the quake and now a centre for helping.

In June the new Azeri New Testament with Psalms & Proverbs is being launched aimed towards the 20 million ethnic Azeris in the North west of the country. The first 10,000 also carry a CD of the scriptures and that audio version is available on two web sites.
