ESSEX BAPTIST PRAYER DIARY
JULY – SEPTEMBER 2013
Regional Ministry Team – Rev. Paul Hills
Will there be a summer this year? The English obsession with the weather has acquired some justification over this past year! Nothing seems to have been as expected and a lot has been extreme. More seriously, that seems to have been reflected in the world of humanity too with “wars and rumours of war” all too prevalent. So, what do we do in the summer break? We remember God or Father is ruling over all. This is an act of faith. We recall Jesus prays for us with the understanding and compassion of the incarnate Son of God (Heb.7:25). This is an act of hope. We receive again the encouragement and stimulation of the Holy Spirit. This is the act of love of the One God in Trinity towards us. May that stir our prayers for one another in our churches and in God’s world. May His kingdom of peace come!
Regional Ministry Team – Rev. Sheila Martin
It was God’s idea that we should take time to rest and my prayer for those who labour in our churches is that you will be able to take some time out during the summer. Whether you have holiday or simply rest from the normal routine I hope that God will refresh and restore you. Many church activities close down for the summer; others such as holiday clubs and holiday at home provide opportunities for outreach into the community. Please pray for all those churches who will be doing specific outreach over the summer months.
Pray too for those who will be moving house within the Association, or moving into the Association over the summer months. Pray that children will settle into their new schools, families will settle into their new homes and that we will express God’s hospitality toward those who come among us.
Finally, your prayers are coveted for the Association during these months as your Council and Search Team discern God’s will about new Regional Ministers.

The unity we share in the gospel and for increased numbers attending our meetings.

Please pray
For more youth workers & helpers for our Thursday Youth Group; that has had contact with over 150 teenagers in the last 2 years.
For our contacts with young families through “Messy Church” & Thursday Coffee Stop.
That Jesus will be at the centre of all we do as we seek to reach out to our community.

July 28th
Harlow, Potter Street Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Alison Taylor
We thank God for his continued blessing on our church.
We have seen an increase in membership and we are looking forward to the baptism of 3 of our church family next month.
As a church we know how important prayer is, and via the email and prayer chain we have almost daily prayer requests circulated.
We ask for prayer for a number of our church family who have long term health issues, and others who have had a poor diagnosis recently.
We ask for wisdom as we look to the future, how we can support the BU in its changes, how we ensure that we are good stewards of his gifts to us and how we can together move forward to ensure we are an inclusive, effective, loving and faithful community.
We know that all things are possible with God, whose love and power is beyond all understanding.
July 28th
Hawkwell Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Richard Iles
We praise God for the great works He continues to do at Hawkwell: For the many young people undertaking mission trips around the world this year and for all the events which draw us closer to our community.
Please pray for the many amongst our fellowship who are suffering serious illness, for healing to take place and for them and their families to know God’s peace and strength.
Please pray that we may continue to hear the word of God as we prepare to expand our charity shop and decide how best to use the enlarged premises.
August 4th
Hedingham Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Paul Corson
We give thanks to God for the growth of our Toddler group and the relationships we are making with the Child Minders and young mums and dads that we meet. Moving them to Sunday morning attendance is not so easy. The Church building is being used more and more by local community groups, which is also raising our profile in the community; however, Sunday attendance continues to shrink. In September we are planning a Sunday Open day under the "Big Welcome" banner so please pray that we see God succeed it touching people's hearts to bring them to faith in Him, through that event and our other activities. Also pray for an ageing congregation who need more support and who, although willing, are less able to contribute to the churches activities.
We do continue to praise God for His provision for us.
August 4th
Holland-on-Sea Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Mark Lawford
We give thanks to God for a recent successful Messy Church, a well attended 3 day Flower Festival, our 78th Church Anniversary Services, and the interest shown in Café Church.
We ask your prayers for encouragement for the whole church to continue to move forward, and for wisdom for the leadership team in our new period of interregnum as our Minister finishes his time with us.
August 11th
Hornchurch Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Stephen Henwood
Following our recent Church Life Audit the church is looking at ways to move forward seeking to have a fresh approach to Church Life and to at new ways we can share the Christian faith with people in Hornchurch. We want to “Enjoy God Together.” We are thankful for the contribution to church life our Oasis College student Salome brings. God is good.
August 11th

In this, our Centenary year:
Give thanks for
all the blessings which God has poured out on this church during the past 100 years
the vision of our forefathers in 1913 who took the risk of planting a new church on Hutton Mount
the very positive response to all our activities so far this year
Please pray

Leigh-on-Sea, West Leigh Baptist Church
Minister: Revd Jon Stannard
We give thanks for the appointment of Rev Jon Stannard in November 2012 and that the church has a new sense of togetherness and purpose.
