The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry [ MCCPF ] Founded 1954
PRAYER NEWS AUTUMN 2014.
GOD HAS ENABLED US.
THE REASON FOR PROCLAIMING GOD'S MESSAGE
TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN TO IT AND BY ANY MEANS,
From the Prophecy of Ezekiel chapter 33 v 7 – 9 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, `O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.
You don't hire a watchman to fight off robbers single-handed; he is responsible for sounding the alarm. God assigns Ezekiel the watchman's role, here and earlier (3:18). It's tragic when someone dies for his or her sins, but when he or she dies without being warned, that is inexcusable--for the watchman was assigned to offer a chance to repent
ISAIAH 54 verse 2-3 declared ENLARGE the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
2nd CORINTHIANS 10 verse 15 – 16 Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly EXPAND, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you
JAMES declared 1 verse 26 “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
JESUS when asked what Is the greatest commandment said that “It was “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength, and love your neighbour as much as you love yourself “ and “ Love one another. Love the house hold of faith , love your enemies” He also said “Inasmuch as you have not looked after other people in need, you have not helped Me.”
and” behave towards other people as you would wish they would behave towards you.”

LIGHTHOUSE PRAYER MINISTRY [ MCCPF ] has this year celebrated our 60th Anniversary- our Diamond Jubilee, but not with any great occasion but as “Business as usual” and embarked from July on our 61st year.
We are grateful to those who have partnered with us again this year to put up the money to expand the Lord's work and to share in prayer for it's progress. We are primarily a sowing ministry that relies upon the Holy Spirit to act through it to call people to Christ and into his Kingdom
OUR ROLE HAS BEEN MAINLY TWO FOLD
ONE with Ken and me backed by the prayers of several other people reaching out in England into this district delivering house to house the Canadian published Gospel magazine VIA [ meaning THE WAY ] associated with our website and 9 others, and also through material based on my FACEBOOK page
TWO Supplying Bibles for use by converts and Christians overseas to spread the Gospel in Estonia, Iran, Malawi, Nigeria, Ukraine, Zambia, and reaching out in other ways to poor people in Pakistan,Iraq and Syria.
BIBLES FOR NIGERIA Since March this year until early September we have been enabled to make 23 grants for Bibles amounting to 3094 copies, and bringing from 2011 to date 5385. We use two Bible Book Shops.
In June we supplied 70 copies to a prison, where a Christian has languished for over 15 years waiting for his trial to be heard, his crime proclaiming the Good News from God's Word in a Muslim Primary school where he was a teacher. This incarceration has lost him his wife and children but the Lord has used to him to lead these 70 to Him, and he leads daily devotions 6am--7.30am and 2 evening Bible Classes a week. They are praying that 18 Muslim cell mates will come over to Jesus.
In July we supplied Bibles to 45 lay pastors and lay evangelists from the Limelight Bible Institute at Benin City who had been on a training course in use of the Bible but had no copies to minister from.
Pastor Tony Bon wrote “Holy greetings from the throne of grace to you all. How happy and highly excited I was and I am when I receive the 100 Bibles you sent to us. Pen can never express my profound gratitude enough. I am very grateful for your sacrificial giving and love. May the Lord continue to bless you all each day I will continue to pray for your ministry. When the Bibles were given to some people yesterday I saw how happy they were and full of joy. Brother I cannot forget what you have done for us, Again I want you all to know that your reward will be in billions and billions fold in Jesus name.
In August we supplied some more to a Michelle Erhun woman evangelist working amongst women in a Muslim dominated area where women are regarded as second class citizens. She was thrilled to get them.
We also supplied 115 to a pastor engaged in a new mission during August.
Pastor David asked for 18 large print for leaders for research and study. He is 50 and with his wife they are leading a rural congregation in a community area of 8000, the only Church there. The JW's and Radical Islamists are pro-active there. So we were able to supply 18 such Bibles for leaders to use and share Pastor Jude we helped with 40 in March asked for 25 more which have been supplied
In Nigeria the land threatened by Boko Haram there has been a spiritual revival for several years. There are lots of new native Churches with many deeply committed but ill trained pastors and a huge thirst for the Word of God and continually new converts are being added to the Church. Converts outstrip resources and cannot afford to buy Bibles.
WE RECEIVED THESE EMAILS FROM A CYBER CAFÉ Dear brethren in the house of our Lord Jesus Christ I have received the Bible you sent to me through one of our good pastors that I know that is sent by God to help believers called pastor Patricia Chi The Bible has been a tool that God has used to transform me to become a useful instrument in His house ever since I have been reading it.I can now see articles in the Bible are timely and anointed. I have followed them and they have equipped me and I am equipping others, for God has called me as a teacher in His body. Please do pray for me May the glory of God rest on you and your ministry until Christ’s return. Thank very much. your brother in the Lord. Mark Atiola
Dear Pastor in Christ
I am writing to report receipt of the fine beautiful Bibles you sent to me and that was handed over to me by evangelist Patricia Chi. I am so thankful and it is useful personally to me as a born again believer and for the Christian Life College and the entire Church membership as I can read the English Bible to them. God bless and multiply the people who support you financially. Thanks Dele Babalola
WE HAVE AT PRESENT ONE REQUEST OUTSTANDING for 250 which will cost around £430.for converts at the Church that last year we paid 2 years rent for them to secure new premises after their's was destroyed by Islamists
We also funded 130 Christian books from the Bookshop in Benin City to a village Church in the outskirts of the city which has 105 members and had about 15 Bibles till we supplied 25 more. We also sent just over 20 given to us from UK by air but it cost £73. The books have enabled the pastor to set up a lending library at the church for his community. We hope to add to this in future years DV. Clearly it is wiser to use money through the local bookshop there than waste it on feathering the nest of the privatised British postal service.
BIBLES TO OTHER COUNTRIES
We've supplied 76 Bemba Bibles to the churches on three of the islands on Lake Mweru in Northern Zambia . They may well soon want more at £6 each, assuming there are any left as the
Company printing them has stopped doing so
Due to the civil unrest in Ukraine the Bible Society of Ukraine ran out of stock and appealed mid - summer for money to reprint and we sent a donation. We supplied some more in the local language for orphans in Malawi.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE NO FUNDS TO SUPPLY FURTHER REQUESTS FOR BIBLES
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
ESTONIA The SUPERHERO BAND while visiting Estonia last year discovered an acute lack of Bibles in Estonian Universities, In October 2013 they held a Mission at one universities distributing several thousand Youth Bibles to students and have embarked upon a task of raising funds for more. In February they took 3000 copies over and they are fund raising for more. We have sent a small grant and if anyone else would like to help you can find out more from www.superhero.org.uk and www.facebook.com/superherouk You could if you wish send a cheque made payable to Superhero and send it to their leader Tim Cheshire.42 Calder Street Lochwinnoch Renfrewshire PA12 4DE Scotland. IN SEPTEMBER ELAM MINISTRIES is hosting an event to launch the new Persian Bible. This has been 18 years in the making. The New Testament has been available for several years and there are about 2 million in circulation in Iran and amongst Iranians of the Diaspora. The Old Testament of the old translation has been largely unintelligible to modern Iranians. Elam plan to print 300,000 over the next 3 years from 2015 in 3 annual runs of 100.000. They will cost £5.10p each to print and we have initially funded 10 and could pass on other donations of anyone feels led to help. .
NCHELENGE AIDS ORPHANS EDUCTION MINISTRY With some friends in Kent we fund the education of 6 orphans in Zambia and the Church there have also begun appealing for money to provide, pens, pencils, writing paper, exercise books. These are very expensive now to send so if we have some money so they can be bought there that may be a better response.
ASSISTING PRISONERS at the Maximum Security Prison at Kabwe.
We have supplied some practical help to prisoners there to help cope with the winter
One man there owns 2 farms. One his wife and son work. The other lies dormant He would like to get a Trust set up there of which his wife who like him has graduated in agriculture and their son and some friends would act as trustees and manage it with labour from the wives and older children of prisoners as well as somewhere released prisoners could be rehabilitated and learn a trade. To do this they need a number of tools. Tools With A Mission could probably supply them but would need sponsors to fund freight and haulage costs. We did raise such funding in 2011 to establish a Youth Vocational Training Scheme at Nchelenge and later equipping a club for Disabled People in 11 villages which projects are both ongoing and would appreciate more help. To help this Prisoner Project I would need contact with a reliable Christian source outside the prison to check it out and at present I know no one who could do so. So maybe it will remain a pipe dream.
MALAWI AND MOZAMBIQUE VISITATIONS
Pastor Enoch Dimba Director of Christian Resource Ministries in Blantyre keeps in touch on a regular basis by email and I pray and sometimes share his prayer requests for the villages he and his team visit and he sends pictures from time to time. They use a couple of well built cars and take a screen that can be erected in the open air and a projector that can be powered from a car battery or a small generator. They show the famous JESUS film now available dubbed with the languages of many nations. In July – August they have been visiting Christian villages in Malawi and Mozambique. During September they will be in Moslem villages and especially request our prayers. We supplied local language Bibles for 15 of the pastors of their churches in Northern Mozambique in 2008. CRM now care for and provide pastors for overt 700 village churches in these 2 countries. We support CRM through their registered office in Scotland.
Earlier this year too we have supplied funding toward building a new dormitory at Maoni Orphanage in Malawi and supplied 10 students with Bibles.
LOCALLY IN ENGLAND
Since March I with Ken Bedward 's help have delivered VIA Gospel Magazine to over 3000 homes covering some Greens South of Felsted, Good Easter, the Rodings, Duxford and Pampisford, some homes in Lavenham in Suffolk and some new homes in Saffron Walden. We have done 2 thirds of Linton and half of Sawston. Depending on the weather from now until November we may get to Matching Green, where until 30 years ago there was a Baptist chapel and there are 5 remaining small population villages in Uttlesford to be distributed to and Great Bardfield that may have to be postponed until next Spring,
There is a steady daily stream of hits to our web site and we hope to the other 9 we publicise, along with access to the ecumenical Christian Enquiry Agency, and Premier Christian Radio and a phone ministry based in N. Ireland.
Thus we are reaching many people who never enter a church and providing options for them to find out more and some appear to be doing that, but we only do so once. We just pray that where there are churches they will try to reach out to folk in their homes rather than try to get them into church buildings where most don't want to go. In some villages that is happening, but all too many parishes have only a C of E with one service a month and that often at an awkward hour catering for the faithful few and not the rest of the village.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
///////////////////////////////////////////
crop up nearer home such as the person I sat on a seat with half an hour one Saturday listening and chatting who was contemplating suicide for the 3rd time. He was very depressed. “No one in the world cares” he says, except one next door neighbour who talks to him. As Secretary/Treasurer of Four Acres Community, through actions to help people and through editing the monthly newsletter FAN since 1999 I am able to add testimony, teaching or verse from time to time. I've been a member of UDC Tenants Forum for 14 years and that throws up opportunities too.
THROUGH PRACTICAL ACTION formerly Intermediate Technology we supplied some fish cages for a family to use in Pakistan in a flooded area to start a fish farm.
SECOND HAND POSTCARDS for sale to raise money to keep Mission Aviation Fellowship Aircraft in the air can be sent to Heather Yule at 10 Calverden Road RAMSGATE Kent CT12 6JU.
GOSPEL FOR ASIA
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The 10/40 WINDOW Where over half the world's population lives and most of the people unreached by the Good News of Jesus Christ . Lands dominated by Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Communism, Shintoism and lots of other weird man-made religions that reach out to a god but don't find it.
ANSWERING THE PRAYERS OF THOUSANDS FOR THE 10/40 WINDOW God raised up GOSPEL FOR ASIA. Founded by K P Yohannan, an Indian National Christian
This true story is from one of his books. Pastor P spent 15 years in 14 different prisons and for 10 years was tortured all because he had the temerity to baptise 9 people in a land that forbids people to change their religion. If you don't like religion, take it that his human rights were severely violated.
Each of the 9 converts were sentenced to 1 year in prison to deter them, except that it failed.
.The prison where they were sent was literally a dungeon of death. 25 – 30 people jammed into one small room with no ventilation or sanitation. The smell was so bad that newcomers often passed out in the first half hour. The prison they were sent into crawled with lice and thingyroaches, and at night their naked toes and fingers were chewed by rats and mice as they tried to sleep on the damp earth floor. In winter there was no heat and in summer no ventilation. For food the prisoners were allowed 1 cup of rice each day, but to cook it they had to light a fire in the middle of the floor which filled the room with smoke as there was no chimney. Prisoners often got ill and were sick which made matters worse. Yet in the whole year none of the 9 Christians were ill because God, the God that some silly people says does not exist, looked after them.
After a year the 9 new believers were released but Pastor P faced a worse ordeal. To break his spirit, faith and determination they took away his Bible, and chained him by wrist and ankle and forced him through low doorway into a small cubicle previously used to house dead corpses until collected by relatives. It was winter. He nearly froze to death several times.
In the damp darkness his jailer predicted he would not last more than a few days. He could not tell day from night but as he closed his eyes God let him see the pages of the New Testament. He was thus able to read it in total darkness after the book it contained,his Bible had been taken from him. He was not allowed to speak to anyone for 3 months. He could not stand up or stretch out, and other prisoners pushed cooked food to him under the door This went on for 3 months when the guards gave in.
He was moved from prison to prison and in each he shared his faith with prisoners and guards and many became believers. He refused to form secret churches as he declared “How can a Christian keep silent? How can a Church go underground?. Jesus died openly for us spread-eagled naked on a cross. He did not try to hide on the way to the cross. We must also speak out boldly for him regardless of the consequences”.
This was just 40-50 years ago in the Hindu Kingdom of Nepal under the now deposed king who had a false idea that he was god and could do as he liked. He is probably in Hell now regretting.
This true story comes from the book REVOLUTION IN WORLD MISSIONS. Page 49-51,written by Dr.K P Yohannan, an Indian author who was himself imprisoned and tortured for becoming a Christian.
Over 2 million copies have been circulated around the world in 34 reprints up to 2008, and more since.
KPY grew up in the tiny rural village of Niranam in Kerala, Souh India, where he became a Christian first aged 8. He has written over 200 books.
He is the founder and international director of GOSPEL FOR ASIA that in 2008 was supporting through sponsorships over 16,500 National Ministers in the 10/40 Window area, that have planted over 30,000 Congregations and operates 67 Bible Colleges This book tells how that was done.
Instead of the high cost of sending European and American missionaries to Asia [ and indeed to Africa]
we can sponsor trained native nationals to do the work for much less cost so money goes further . That's the idea and it works, but God has raised up many other missions as well using different methods.

Nkuba Davies Chola has now upgraded from a pen to a typewriter. He has since taught himself to use a knitting machine and now is learning to use a sewing machine. This should enable him to acquire new skills to help him make a living and pay his way. The Group now operate centres in 11 villages and more people are being attracted to them. They will clearly need more help as time goes on and are looking for organisations and individuals that could help them. If anyone can help please write to him direct to Nkuba Davies Chola, TOGETHER WE SURVIVE GROUP. P O Box 740169, NCHELENGE, ZAMBIA. He would like a digital camera and a printer. TWAM supplied a computer, but he is not attached to the Internet.
Nkumba Davies Chola Secretary of the Together We Survive Group at Nchelenge in Zambia, for which in 2013 we funded freight and haulage from Tools With a Mission, of equipment for a Group training scheme for disabled people across 11 villages, is finding great difficulty to rent a home and so he wants to build one. He has costed the bricks, bags of cement, window and door frames & metal roof sheeting In all it will cost £1,700. Average cost of houses there is £2,000. Is there anyone around who feels like helping him.
CHITUNGU ORPHANAGE CENTRE
///////////////////////////
Peter Chengo, aged 40, in prison 9 years, became a Christian in prison. By trade he was a farmer. And has since done a Course in agriculture. He has asked for a Bible and we have arranged for that to be supplied. He has been led to the decision that he should set up an organization at one of his 2 farms to be called CHITUNGU ORPHANAGE CENTRE to train ex-prisoners, prisoner's children and wives, orphans and widows - victims of the AIDS epidemic -, in farming. His elder sister Miss Mary Ngulube who has done courses in Agriculture and Teaching and looks after his productive farm where they grow maize, cassava, ground nuts, soya beans, and sunflowers with two areas of vegetable gardens wlll direct the project assisted by Peter's 2 brothers Bwalya Ngulube and Stanley Ngulube and his nephew Goodwell Paul Chingwa . He also has 4 children Faith, Darius, Japhet, and Helmut.
He needs a grinding machine, and hoes, axes, wheelbarrows, shovels, spades, sewing machines, carpentry tools and other training kits, and money to build 2 or 3 buildings. It is an imaginative project but funding it will be a problem. I have introduced him to TOOLS WITH A MISSION at Ipswich UK who could probably supply most of the equipment he needs as donated to them and sent as free gifts. But freight and overland haulage costs would probably be between £1200 – £1500 and TWAM rely on sponsors.
We have been enabled to provide a new Saber MP3 Clockwork CD Player with 10 Gospel recordings in the Kimbuti language with assorted Bible picture books and flip chart pictures for use by a church planted amongst a displaced community of Pygmies on the Rwanda / Democratic Republic of Congo border about 2 hours drive from Goma Eastern DRC for people unable to read or write their language using new Bible translations. This is supplied by Global Recordings Network UK. We now have 9 machines in use in 8 countries. The machines cost £40 and we send £50 to include the recordings and flip-charts
We have sent £50 to Pastors Training International for Mini-Libraries of Books given to pastors who have no books who attend their training camps
If you wish to support our work please send all donations to The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry 35 Four Acres Saffron Walden CB11 3JD. In British currency ,
With kind regards JOHN
