LIGHTHOUSE PRAYER MINISTRY NEWS SEPTEMBER 2019
OUR MINISTRY dates from July 1954, so we recently completed our 65th year. Our task is twofold
1.TO SUPPORT EVANGELISM BY PRAYER and 2. TO HELP PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR EVANGELISM. Over the years we have reached out to people across many countries and prayed for others we could not otherwise reach. Prayer is in itself working for the LORD, as some how it links in with God the Holy Spirit who is constantly interceding for people and entering into many lives to transform and empower them, to spread the Kingdom of Heaven across the Earth. It is part of the task that involves every Christian, past, present and future. That keeps the power of God flowing to every generation.
We are a small group of now mainly elderly people, and we have been a series of projects involving lots of teams rather than an organisation. I administrate it. There is a sleeping partner legalizing the bank account and a church charity assists us in obtaining Gift Aid on some donors gifts.
OUR MAIN REMAINING PROJECTS are supplying Bibles to new converts in Nigeria through Joy To The World Bookshop in Ibadan; supplying Bikes for Pastors in Malawi and Mozambique and sending Bible Reading material; providing each year an additional solar powered CD Player to Global Recordings UK for use in a remote area ;distributing to homes in the UK, the Canadian Gospel magazine VIA and gospels and tracts.; funding tool kits for Tools With A Mission contacts; supporting Radio Outreach, Trinity TV, using our web board site, and FACEBOOK group sites to convey messages
We also give grants from our private small grants fund to, and intercede for, the work of Christian Resource Ministries, Pastors Training International, Christian Witness to Israel, MAF UK, Arab Vision, London City Mission, Wycliffe Translators, Mission India,. Echo of His Call [ India ] Naval & Military Bible Society, Greater Manchester Community Chaplaincy, Turkic Belt Ministries, Torch Trust for the Blind, Rural Ministries, and to some projects in sensitive areas we cannot publicize. We can supply details of these missions and contacts addresses to any Christians interested in finding out more.
WE BEGAN IN 1954 COLLECTING RECYCLABLES and we still collect Bibles Reading Notes, 2nd hand spectacles, used foreign postage stamps, 2nd hand Gideon NT's, and to assist MAFUK, Picture postcards. So you may be able to help . The second hand spectacles we send to Malawi. Used postage stamps- Foreign, Commonwealth and UK Special editions go to Christian Witness to Israel for their stamp bureau to sell to raise funds, all stamps need to have a frame around them at least 25 mm or a ¼ of an inch of paper around them and the stamps must not be torn or cut or steamed off. We collect locally and pass on to an agent in our church used postcards which are sold at auction to collectors by Mission Aviation Fellowship UK to help raise money for aircraft fuel. For details of where to send them contact www.maf-uk.org or on FACEBOOK :- MAF UK. Postal address us Castle House, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, Kent CT20 2TQ. We used to send the NT's to Zambia for soldiers in their army but now they go to Malawi. We can supply addresses to which Christian books may be sent but we cannot afford to send them ourselves due to the high postage
In his book “ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT,” Roland Bucktelling of his encounter with an angel, says that the angel told him that it was more important to be like Jesus in meeting the area of a person's need than to be witnessing to people about salvation” He also said “ when you are helping people, you become a living word to them which says “ I care and God cares for you”. Jesus is living his life through us. We become a word that is alive to them, bringing the heart of God to them in their place of need. We can all help people and encourage and inspire them and provide them options for finding out more ,that the Holy Spirit can use to help
EVANGELIST TO AFRICA Reinard Bonnke in his book “EVEN GREATER” “The Holy Spirit does not possess us, he honours our choices. He indwells us and prompts us with such things as an up welling of divine compassion . We must somehow learn to follow the prompting of compassion, as God is in it.”
BIBLES TO NIGERIA. Since 2011 through the bookshop in Ibadan we have been enabled to supply 10,500 Bibles to Nigerians We had this reply recently “ Praise the Lord dear people of God Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Thank you very much for your holy prayer, love and encouragement always to reach hopeless people with hope of God, reaching unreached people with gospel. Thank you very very much for the 300 fine Bibles you sent to us through the bookshop. It was a day of joy to pick up the Bibles and to distribute them and see how lives were filled with joy to receive the greatest gift in the world Oh brother thank you very much. May the lord continue to bless you and your ministry. You are in our hearts and daily prayers. We do daily pray for you, your family, your church and your country..We need your holy prayers, love and fellowship. We need each another as brother and sister in Jesus Christ. You are in our daily prayers .
Yours in Christ Jesus PASTOR IFYS.
Another 300 in September and 200 in October are expected to be supplied to Pastor Evangelist Obbi NNAS. Thereafter Pastor Cosmos Chika who we supplied 150 to began a new church earlier this year and needs another 250 .
Then Pastor Chibulkem. of Christ Power Assembly needs 400 and Pastor Clement Christian needs 430 so that may take us well into 2020
BREXIT Someone asked me recently “What is all the fuss about? What is happening on Oct 31st. “I wondered where they have been for 4 years. November 1st is All Saints Day, when some branches of the Church celebrate all the saints that don't have a special day. Of course Saint Paul describes all Christians as saints. Anyway what ever else happens on November 1st there will be changes, but UK will be withdrawing from a community with a population of 550 million to embrace a wider world community of several billion . Many Europeans are well entrenched in mission all around the world but it is estimated that there are 5½ billion non-Christians on the planet. Some will not believe in Jesus Christ, but the sacrifice he made has procured forgiveness of sin and the power of the Holy Spirit for every person on this planet but millions still don't know it yet. We who are Christians share the task of telling them and showing them. The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry has been doing that for years using support for Radio & TV Evangelism, Media, Newspapers, Christian literature , cassettes, videos, equipment, tools, and will continue to do so as opportunity and resources allows.
VIA MINISTRY Distribution in recent weeks has included to Flats & Alleys at Brighton, New homes at Stansted, Saffron Walden, and Elsenham, and homes at Bishop's Stortford and at Sydenham Street Whitstable. Later in September some will receive VIA at Southwold. Lighthouse lantern covered Gospels of John from the Open Air Mission continue as the Holy Spirit prompts to be left in particular places or given to specific people as over the years, including in wayside sales boxes, bus shelters, seaside shelters, on trays or cruets in cafe's, and this year as thank-you gifts to a sticks of rock vendor, to an icecream vendor, to a teenage girl sitting idle on a beach lobbing stones into the waves, to the members of the team that installed my new kitchen unit, or left on a cinema seat in the Royal Pavilion at Brighton. As I left a young couple with 3 small boys occupied that row.
MALAWI. Enock Dimba's Team of 6 to 10 people continue visiting rural villages daily, preaching, teaching and showing the JESUS film for several weeks at a time through each year. Hundreds respond, and are being discipled and trained. Please Keep Praying. We known it works as it pleases our LORD.
THIS SUMMER we have also donated to RADIO OUTREACH based in Cumbria, and to the NAVAL & MILITARY BIBLE SOCIETY for Scriptural booklets for the Navy and for Sea Cadets, and to TOOLS WITH A MISSION an electricians kit, a carpentry kit and a plumbers kit and a sewing machine.
IF YOU FEEL DRAWN TO HELP US DONATIONS FOR OUR WORK MAY BE SENT to The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry, to me at 35 Four Acres SAFFRON WALDEN, Essex, CB11 3JD . Taxpayers can Gift Aid If cheques are made payable to Saffron Walden Baptist Church with an accompanying letter asking that Gift Aid be added to this donation and a transfer paid to The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry. We here will see to the details of getting that done. Thank you for prayer and gifts.
With my kind regards, John E Maddams
